Character

Here are some of my thoughts.

When it comes to human actions, there are many that are right, many that are wrong, and many more that are neutral. What astounds me is that there are so many people who do not have the capacity to determine between right and wrong, or who convince themselves, for greedy, selfish, ignorant or stubborn reasons that an action that is clearly wrong to the vast majority of the rest of the planet, is right. This generally happens with no doubt in their minds—with zeal.

These people are generally out for affirmation that they are great in some way: amazingly intelligent, brave beyond belief, astoundingly attractive, wise beyond their years, unbelievably capable. They couple a overblown belief in their own capabilities with a zealous inability to recognize any failure on their own part.

My sincerest prayer is that I don’t have to deal with such people very often. They have no character; their only familiarity with character is that they are one.

Character: Have some, Don’t Be One.
